■
Overview
The following drives and controls can be engineered in a user-
friendly way using the SIZER for Siemens Drives engineering
tool:
•
SIMOTICS low-voltage motors, including servo geared motors
•
SINAMICS low-voltage drive systems
•
Motor starters
•
SINUMERIK CNC
•
SIMOTION Motion Control Systems
•
SIMATIC controllers
It provides support when selecting the technologies involved in
the hardware and firmware components required for a drive
task. SIZER for Siemens Drives supports the complete configu-
ration of the drive system, from basic single drives to demanding
multi-axis applications.
SIZER for Siemens Drives supports all of the configuring steps in
one workflow:
•
Configuring the power supply
•
Designing the motor and gearbox, including calculation of
mechanical transmission elements
•
Configuring the drive components
•
Compiling the required accessories
•
Selecting the line-side and motor-side power options,
e.g. cables, filters, and reactors
When SIZER for Siemens Drives was being designed, particular
importance was placed on a high degree of usability and a uni-
versal, function-based approach to the drive application. The
extensive user guidance makes using the tool easy. Status infor-
mation keeps you continually informed about the progress of the
configuration process.
The drive configuration is saved in a project. In the project, the
components and functions used are displayed in a hierarchical
tree structure.
The project view permits the configuration of drive systems and
the copying/inserting/modifying of drives already configured.

Overview
(continued)
The configuration process produces the following results:
•
A parts list of the required components (export to Excel, use
of the Excel data sheet for import to SAP)
•
Technical specifications of the system
•
Characteristic curves
•
Comments on system reactions
•
Mounting arrangement of drive and control components and
dimensional drawings of motors
•
Energy requirements of the configured application
These results are displayed in a results tree and can be reused
for documentation purposes.
Technological online help is available:
