Automotive test benches create unique challenges.
Test bench applications have unique requirements over standard power transmission lines because
the test bench needs to run at high speeds as well as low speeds with high torque to fully test to the
engine, dynamo or ABS brake system. Most flexible couplings cannot meet both requirements and
are only able to provide the required torque through a larger size, or higher speed through a smaller
size matching the torque produced at the operating speed.

The BSD Modulflex Disc Coupling uses interference-fit bolt joints and carbon fiber shafts for
automotive engine test benches. The lightweight carbon fiber and the interference-fit bolt joints
offer higher speed and torque ratios than any other disc coupling. The availability of flange
mounting systems ensures the right fit for your engine test bench. Our experience includes standard
engines as well as test benches for major motor manufacturers in support of Formula 1
