Tecnica Industriale Srl distributes services based on the drone-in-a-box technology in partnership with a spin-off company of the University of Bari Aldo Moro specialized in environmental consulting and UAV integration protocols, composed of academics and technical experts from the university.
The company is particularly active in the design and implementation of Drone In A Box (DIAB) ecosystems, used to perform different types of monitoring, including:
Measurement of diffuse methane emissions with OP/CC TDLAS instrumentation in various contexts, such as municipal solid waste landfills, methane gas storage and treatment plants, and livestock facilities;
Detection of concentrations of aerosol substances in industrial sites, urban areas, contaminated zones and ports;
Thermography applied in industrial and environmental fields, with advanced data post-processing using latest-generation software and machine learning techniques;
Photogrammetric optical surveys for the creation of territorial maps and the integration of other datasets.
These systems can be installed individually or integrated into more complex sensor or IoT ecosystems. The implementation of a DIAB system generally includes the creation of a cloud infrastructure, preferably with high-throughput data exchange capabilities, to enable real-time streaming, data processing in remote High-Performance Computing (HPC) facilities, or storage on physical and digital media.
The design carried out also includes the programming of scheduled behaviors of the drone, from the setting of the activation timing, to specific maneuvers in flight, from the execution of flights using well-defined routes and altitudes to specific behaviors of the on-board sensors. Finally, given the possibility of interacting in an open manner with these systems, for specific applications not included in the pre-established libraries, there is the possibility of preparing specific APIs that can be integrated into the software environment, such as to allow the automation of specific protocols.
Finally, the possibility of using specific libraries for the use of machine and deep learning paradigms allows the exploitation of intelligent interaction functions of the system with the surrounding ecosystem, in order to optimize the flight, acquisition, recharging and overall management phases of the systems.
